Tuesday 17th November saw the first match of the newly founded Hampshire County League take place at Fareham Academy,

The match saw Fareham Greens take on the Fareham Youth squad.

The game saw the Greens take an early lead as the youth squad started nervously.

Both Dave Claire and Cameron Clarke quickly built up a great understanding with their switches and scored a lot of points early on.

After the first 10 minutes Ben Longhurst, Beth Williams and Mitchell McCracken got to grips with the switching of the greens and slowed the scoring at their end of the court and started to move the Green team around with their switching.

At the other end Theo Simpson and Jacob Munt from the U15 squad were both playing well and competing and scoring against the adults from the Fareham Green side.

The greens kept up the pressure on the youth team in the 1st and 2nd periods with some powerful shooting from Kieron Smith and Dean Pratt.

With a 8 point lead going into the final period the Greens were looking like they would run away with the game, but a tactical change from Jason Longhurst moving Amy Pell and James Croughton to left shooter with Josh Montague in the centre, this saw the youth team close the gap to 2 points after 10 minutes of the final period but eventually the great defence of Ed Kenny and Jamie Atrill told with the Greens winning 44-40.

The game was played in the true spirit of Tchoukball with some players from the Greens giving tips to players from the youth team throughout the game.

Thanks also to Cliff Jenner, Matt Simpson and Jason Longhurst for officiating the game.
