It has been a major few months for tchoukball's governing body, the newly named 'Tchoukball UK', and it's going to get even busier over the next 7 days as the FITB European Tchoukball Championships takes place in Hereford.
Tchoukball UK staff have been working for the last 12 months to organise this competition and it's the single biggest undertaking we've ever managed. Chief Executive Philip Moore is quick to point out the massive benefits that hosting 'Euro2010' offers:
"Hosting a major international tournament such as the European Championships gives Tchoukball UK a great opportunity to meet officials and business partners crucial to the recognition of tchoukball throughout the UK. It has also enabled a great deal of development work to be done in the Hereford and west midlands, another key goal for Tchoukball UK."
For a complete guide to the European Championships including a match schedule, team photographs and much more, please visit our Euro2010 section. We'll be updating all the scores, live, as they come in.
Sporting honours nationally went to Bury Men, with the Suffolk team taking the National League and Andrews Shield titles from Fast in second place. In the Southern Tchoukball League (STL), Solent Rhinos won the league from Fast but Fast beat them in the STL Cup.
Elsewhere in the organisation, and with the support of our clubs, we've made a great deal of changes. At board level, we have a new Director of Competitions and Events who will run an exciting new National League structure next year, as well as oversee the performance and organisation of our national squads. We also have a new Director of Membership and a new Technical Director.
We've carried on our work on the new web site and added lots of new and exciting features:
- A new and growing photo gallery section
- Polling on key questions in UK tchoukball on our homepage
- More integration with Twitter and Facebook ('Like' our articles and retweet them to your followers)
- A new results section containing results from the last 5 years
- A complete re-brand using the new Tchoukball UK logo
We'll keep adding new content to the site and more features over the next year
