Dear athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters,

Over the past 3 weeks, the TUK Board of Directors have met on several occasions to discuss how COVID-19 will affect the remainder of our 2019/20 season and how to best respond to the situation at hand. Having already cancelled the 2020 Finals Weekend (set to take place 30-31 May at Carnegie Sports Centre, Leeds Beckett University), we have now come to the decision to suspend all TUK activity until 31 May.

The government’s advice has changed rapidly over the last few weeks, and while we don’t know what the future holds, we remain hopeful that there will be an opportunity to complete this season in the summer. That being said, our priority will always be to ensure the health and safety of our players. We will keep monitoring the situation closely and will be in touch with clubs before 31 May to discuss when or if the remaining fixtures can be played.

The TUK events affected by this suspension are:

National League (dates and team affected)

  • 19 April (Bedford): Bury Kings, Guildford Inferno, Portsmouth Drakes, Team UK Women, Yorkshire Outlaws
  • 26 April (Fareham): Fareham Black, Guildford Inferno, Portsmouth Drakes, Fareham Pink, Guildford/Portsmouth, Southampton Stags

Team UK training sessions (dates and squad affected)

  • 3 May (Cranfield University): Team UK Men’s and Women’s squad
  • 10 May (Cranfield University): Team UK Men’s squad

Our Euro 2020 Organising Committee is also working with our partner National Federations in Europe and the International Tchoukball Federation (FITB) to discuss the situation with regard to the European Tchoukball Championships (ETC) and the European Youth Tchoukball Championships (EYTC) scheduled for 1-10 August 2020. Further advice will be given to our coaches and athletes once the situation becomes clearer.

Stay safe,
TUK Board of Directors
